Help for Long-Term Unemployed in Wrexham
Those in Wrexham who have been unemployed for a long period of time are set to receive extra help, after a new Government initiative launched last month.
The new Help to Work Scheme is set to provide more help to the long-term unemployed than ever before. Claimants on the scheme will attend a Jobcentre every day for intensive help - and many will also work for their benefits out in the community, gaining vital experience in the process.
Welcoming the additional help, Wrexham Conservative , Tom Bradley, said:
“Whilst unemployment is falling in Wrexham and across the country, and employment is at record levels, it is important that we do all we can to help everyone back into work.
“While Labour abandoned the long-term unemployed we’re helping them, giving new opportunity and new responsibility to people who had previously been written off with no chance.
“I know this new scheme will be welcomed by JobSeekers across Wrexham who want the opportunity to work, and by taxpayers who want to see value for money”.
The new Help to Work Scheme is a key part of the Government’s long-term economic plan, as they look to move to full employment, making sure that everyone who can work is in work.
Figures show that under the last Government, there were a million and a half people who spent a decade out of work.
The launch of the scheme follows the news that there are now record levels of employment in Britain and falling unemployment.
