Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales has praised an initiative which encourages school children to learn more about music.
Mr Rowlands recently visited the Denbighshire Music Cooperative based on the Denbigh Industrial Estate where they teamed up with musicians from the Wrexham Music Cooperative to perform a concert which was streamed live to three schools.
He said:
“As a keen musician myself I was delighted to see this cooperative at work and watch the Make Some Noise band in action.
“I can play the guitar and piano and have been known to also pick up the drum sticks and I think it is so important for children to have the opportunity to learn more about different instruments and the sounds they make.
“The concert was streamed live and it was great to see the band playing a variety of instruments such as the harp, violin, drums, guitar and saxophone and there was also a singer.
“There is nothing quite like the sound of music being performed live and it is a wonderful initiative and I congratulate the cooperatives, councils and schools all working together in this way.”
The concert was one of several performed that day, all livestreamed, allowing the cooperatives to showcase what they do to multiple schools in one day.
Make Some Noises delivers music lessons through partnerships with Denbighshire County Council and Wrexham County Borough Council and this month are broadcasting 50 shows in to 127 schools.
The cooperatives offer a fresh approach to music provision throughout both counties and is run by teachers for the benefit of local pupils.
