Sarah Atherton MP visited the Wrexham Cadet Detachment at Hightown Barracks last week to meet the cadets and staff, see the cadets' activities in action as well as to celebrate the Detachment Commander, James Heyward, who was recognised as one of Sarah's three 'Covid Community Champions' thanks to his efforts during the lockdown restrictions.
During the evening, Sarah saw the cadets undertaking a number of training activities like CPR practice, which as a former nurse, she was very pleased to get involved with too! She also heard about the activities that the cadets had been up to during lockdown, which were held via Zoom.
Commenting on my visit, Detachment Commander James Heyward said “it was a pleasure to welcome our MP to the detachment and I was delighted and surprised to receive my certificate of appreciation and 'speaker's mug' from the House of Commons. I also thank Sarah Atherton for her continued interest in the Army Cadets in general and in Wrexham in particular."
