Conservative Wrexham County Borough Councillor, Debbie Wallice, who represents Borras Park was joined by Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales, as they visited flash flooding in the Borras Park area of Wrexham.
Mr Rowlands is urging Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water to solve drainage problems in Borras Park at the junction between Warrenwood Road and Philips Close and on Daleside Avenue.
He said: “I was appalled at what I heard when I recently visited the area to speak to local residents who had been affected by the recent flash floods.
“I was told that flooding had been a problem in this area for about 10 years and although the problem has been identified, local drains are still overflowing when there is heavy rain.
“Earlier this month flash flooding saw raw sewage flood into the road and people’s homes and Cllr Wallice said Wrexham Council had to carry out a deep clean of the worst affected road.
“It is just not right that people have to worry about drains flooding every time there is a heavy downpour of rain.
“I understand that there is a drainage problem in this area and Cllr Wallice has been trying for several months to get something done.
“I am happy to do anything I can to support her and I will certainly be taking the matter up with Welsh Water and raising the issue in the Senedd.”
Cllr. Wallice said: “The residents at the junction between Warrenwood Road and Philips Close and on Daleside Avenue have had to put up with flash flooding for a number of years.
“The flash floods are caused by drainage problems which need to be resolved. I have repeatedly raised the matter with Dŵr Cymru but little progress has been made so far.
“I’m pleased that Sam will be working with me to tackle this problem and hope we’ll be able to secure a positive outcome for local residents.”
