Unemployment Continues to Fall in Wrexham The number of people claiming JobSeekers Allowance in Wrexham has fallen again, according to figures released this week. The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics show that unemployment in Wrexham now stands at 4.4%, down from 4.9% at the time of the last General Election. Welcoming the figures, Chairman of Wrexham Conservatives, Dick Wishart, said:“This is more good news for Wrexham and for those families that want to work hard and do the right thing. “Every new job is another family with the security of a paypacket. “These latest figures clearly show that the UK Government’s long-term economic plan is working, but that there is still more to do. “I would call on the Welsh Assembly Government to back the Conservative’s long-term economic plan and to help get Wrexham and Wales back to work.” The figures also follow the news that employment across the UK is at a record high, with over 2 million new private sector jobs having been created since the General Election. According to the latest figures from the Job Centre there are currently over 1000 jobs being advertised within Wrexham.
